Art of Recovery Expo 9/16/17

Founders Message

Barbara Brown

In 2004 my late husband Bill Brown and I decided we wanted to create an event that would bring Arizona residents a unique opportunity to meet numerous providers of treatment for addiction recovery and behavioral health.

Our dream and vision is now celebrating its 12th year as part of National Recovery Month in September.

While addiction is treatable, finding the right place to go for help can be a daunting task. If and when a crisis occurs resources need to be available in an instant.

The Art of Recovery Expo offers opportunities to learn about the numerous treatment services that are available in a non-judgmental, relaxed, positive atmosphere.

Professionals, educators, and family can explore and learn ways to prevent, intervene and seek treatment for those who are struggling. It’s a fact that addiction to alcohol and other drugs is a chronic illness and a public health problem impacting all of us.

The stigma of addiction is a major barrier to recovery; access to care is improved by ending discrimination against those who are struggling to find a solution, to make a change and to improve their lives. People have the best opportunity to find lifelong recovery with treatment and support from family members.

I invite you and your family and friends to join us as we celebrate the journey of recovery.

We are honored to have Austin Eubanks as our Keynote Speaker. Austin is a Columbine shooting survivor. His story of trauma, over-prescribed medications, and active addiction is sure to leave a lasting impression on you.

In addition, Stephanie Siete of Community Bridges will be sharing her knowledge of the pressures our young population faces today. With the prevalence of street drugs and the opiate epidemic that is one of nation’s biggest crises, this is your chance as a parent, loved one to “Be in the Know”.

We invite you to enjoy a day celebrating National Recovery month with us. Email me at aztogether@yahoo.com or call 602.684.1136.

We look forward to seeing you on September 16, 2017 at the Phoenix Convention Center, Hall G. As always there is no fee for admission.

• Workshops will be presented throughout the day.
